ATTICA CEMETERY

Attica Cemetery (aka Mormon Cemetery)

Located on the extreme west edge of Attica, on the John and Bobbi Bassett property.
This property was originally owned by Stephen Post, a leader of a Rigdonite Mormonism branch of the Children of Zion, from 1864-1876. Local legend says that at least one Mormon pioneer, including Elizabeth Estal, are buried here.

The MCPCC has restored and fenced this cemetery in 2012-13.

In August 2020, a derecho went through Iowa, causing much damage. At Attica Cemetery, some trees landed on the fence. MCPCC removed the fence and the landowners cut down the trees.
