BRIDGES CEMETERY

Located in Indiana Township, Section 1, Township 74 Range 19.  Parcel 0420400000. About 1 mile east of Pershing or 2 miles northeast of Attica.  Land owned by Dan and Marlys Hollingshead.

There are about 14 gravestones in this small fenced cemetery 40' square, in the middle of a field south of the farm  buildings. It is named after the Thompson Bridges family. His wife, Nancy, was the first burial in 1853. The most recent is 1919, an unmarked grave for Lucinda Bales.

The stone for James and Mariah Locke, who died in 1879 and 1872 respectively, is much newer than the others. This cemetery was originally called the Baptist Burying Ground, as the Bridges family were what was known as "Hardshell Baptists."

This cemetery was cleaned up in the Fall of 2015.
